A modern BaZi compatibility app, built by an engineer in Singapore
Most compatibility apps fall into one of two traps: ChatGPT-in-a-wrapper that invents its own rules, or "Free first reading, then 88-yuan to find out more" schemes that exist to harvest trust. paircast is a different model.
Why I built this
My partner and I live in Singapore — overseas Chinese, with parents on both sides we want to do right by. Compatibility consultations are a normal part of that. We tried local masters (S$98-388 a session) and online apps (mostly GPT-rainbow-prose, often gated behind "buy this token to unlock your reading" funnels).
I'm an engineer; this didn't sit well. But Zǐpíng BaZi isn't actually superstition — it's a rule-based, data-structured cultural framework with a millennium of textbooks documenting it. So I wrote my own engine. Real practitioners can verify it; newcomers can understand it.
What makes paircast different
**The engine is real**: Four Pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods, Shen Sha, Use God, Decade Cycles, Year Pillars, Void, NaYin, Life Palace, Embryo Origin — all computed in code, no LLM hallucination. The AI just translates the structured analysis into natural language.
**True solar time correction**: Singapore is ~65 minutes off the China standard meridian. Most apps use clock time directly, getting the hour pillar wrong. paircast ships with longitude corrections for 24 cities common to the Chinese diaspora.
**Transparent pricing**: $29 one-shot unlocks a full deep reading (forever, plus PDF + shareable link). $4.99/mo subscription adds the date picker, monthly briefing, Q&A, and non-romantic compatibility (siblings / parent-child / friends / business partners). No virtual currencies. No "master will message you privately". Cancel any time, no dark patterns.
**Privacy**: birth data is used only to generate your report. Never sold. Never fed to AI training. Stripe handles payments; paircast never sees your card details.
